August Birthday Party with Michael Kac

Live Entertainment by Michael Kac. All are invited to join!

Michael Kac* grew up in Ithaca, New York and began playing piano at the age of 7 (mostly classical). A concert by the Weavers during his freshman year in college got him hooked on folk music, and he started learning guitar and banjo. He played for a while on the coffeehouse circuit in the Northeast and then moved through a succession of rock groups, most notably the Philadelphia-based Mandrake Memorial, with whom he became the world’s foremost — which is to say, only — rock harpsichordist. In 1969 he retired from active performing, but decided to unretire in 2006 and has been having a ball ever since. He’s also the proud father of Stefan Kac, a.k.a. The World’s Hottest Tuba, a career musician and composer on the west coast.

* Last name pronounced ‘Katz’. It makes sense if you know Polish!
