Testimonials
Robert and I love living at The Kenwood! Even though we moved from a warm Arizona climate, the warm atmosphere at The Kenwood more than makes up for the change! Everyone here is so well qualified, friendly and more than willing to help with whatever we need that we couldn’t be happier…and we are amazed at the variety of programs offered.

My husband and I moved to The Kenwood from a retirement community in St. Paul after we realized we wanted to be closer to our daughter. We are so happy we made the move! The staff is extremely professional, yet very friendly. The activity programs are wonderful and other places just can’t compare. We have made several close friends with whom we enjoy spending our days. There is such a sense of family and community here. I would tell anyone that this is the best place to be!

From my first phone call to The Kenwood, I felt welcomed and understood. My parents were treated with respect, kindness and gentleness. As their needs increased, the staff provided advice and skilled care. I could count on the concierge staff and others to let me know if anything was amiss. It was obvious that everyone really liked their jobs, had enormous compassion and patience, which helped me and my parents through the last phases of their long, productive lives (97 and 100 years).

My mother moved into the Kenwood in 1999 when she was 93 years young. She had a wonderful apartment with a great view of downtown Minneapolis and all the beautiful lights. Mom really enjoyed the wonderful dining room with delicious food in just the right portions. She entertained her family and friends there as often as possible. This was truly Independent Living at its best.
In November 2002, Mom suddenly lost her son, which sent her into a deep depression. Fortunately, Jenny, the assistant living manager, took Mom under her wing and kept me informed of her health and state of mind. We made the decision in February 2003 to move Mom down to the Assisted Living Floor. She continued to receive great care from Jenny and the wonderful aides who were so encouraging when I had moments wondering if Mom needed even more help. They would assure me that she was doing well right where she was. I felt so blessed because Mom had her cat and it would truly have been disheartening to move her to a nursing home.
In July 2006, the Kenwood threw a large 100th birthday party for Mom, her family, friends and all the Kenwood residents. She had a beautiful cake, fruit, flowers and a DJ to play music. Until the day Mom passed away in April 2007, she would talk about her 100th birthday party and how “the place was packed.” That party meant so much to both Mom and our family. Thanks again to The Kenwood for making the last years of Mom’s long life so pleasant.
